Week 8 Update

Latest News

Things have settled down at the top of the FPL table with the top three unchanged for the second week in a row. Things could get a little uncomfortable for the leaders though as the boffins at FPL Towers have come up with yet another new idea which really could chake things up.

I'm not going to say too much at the moment because it might never happen, but imagine if you were able to gamble some or all of your hard earned FPL points on the out come of these matches.. Where would you put your points this week ? Or would you keep it safely locked up in your FPL account. Hmm

The Week Ahead

I wonder sometimes (as I'm sure you all do) why I sit here making these predictions when it's blatently obvious from the 20 points I picked up this week that I am rubbish. I guess it gives you something to read in your coffee breaks. And as I said, if anyone else would like a go drop me an email and I'll put your name up in, well, lights..

Arsenal v Man Utd is the big game of the weekend. On paper you would have to say that United have the momentum at the moment, but Arsenal do seem to turn it on against the bigger clubs and they are playing on their own patch. From that you might think that I would go for a draw, but no, I have a feeling United might just be too strong. Away Win.

Wigan v Stoke is a little less mouth watering than the previous fixture but no less of a conundrum. I saw Wigan last Wednesday at the Cottage and they were pretty awful, but then they go on to Pompey and Win. There really is no logic to this game. Stoke are on a bit of a roll and you have got to think they will trouble Wigan in the way they do every team. This could go either way but I am going to go for the home team to just edge it.

West Ham entertain Everton on Saturday which looks like another tight encounter. Everton have been good on the road so far this season and will give the Hammers a tough game. Cahill is back and they are always stronger with him in the team. This has got draw written all over it but I have a sneaky feeling Everton might just nich it. Away Win.

Losing Harry Redknapp as they did was a real body blow for Pompey and you have to wonder if they will be able to stay in the top half of the table. It will be a really tough trip to Sunderland on Saturday and Roy Keane must know that he couldn't have a better time to play them. I only see this going one way. Home Win.

After a bright start WBA have slipped into the bottom three. In saying that they are only one win away from 8th place with how tight the table has become after a weekend where many of the bottom teams picked up three points. You can't really see them giving Liverpool too many problems at Anfield though and this has to be the home banker of the week. Home Win.

It was only five or six weeks ago that Wigan went to Hull and won 5-0. Since then the Tigers have been on something of a run but who's to say that it they take their eye off the ball again they won't come unstuck. Bolton make the trip to the KC this weekend and will know that they can get something from their trip. Hull will be favourites but this is another that could go either way. Draw.

I watched the Newcastle v Villa match last night and was a little disappointed with the Villa. They have obviously made a good start to the season and are doing well in Eurpoe, but for me they have yet to show that they can seriously threaten a top four place. Newcastle did a good job of stopping their main threats and deserved to win the match. Villa have a difficult run up to Christmas and it will be interesting to see where they are come January. In saying that, they should be too good for Middlesbrough at Villa Park so I am going for a home win.

Blackburn entertain Chelsea and this for me has to be the away banker of the week. Rovers have stuttered over recent weeks and I can see Chelsea taking full advantage and collinting the points.

As ever with my beloved Fulham we never get the luck. We play Pompey just before they feel the real effects of Redknapp's departure and have timed our next two matches against the improving Newcastle and the inspired Tottenham Hotspur to perfection. I thought we were unlucky not to get a point at Goodison on Saturday and could even have won it. I think it will be a tough game against the Geordies at the Cottage on Sunday but I think we can beat them. HOME WIN.

Finally Tottenham travel to Man City. City are another team who have been stuttering over recent weeks and will know they will have to perform against as I said an inspired Spurs team. This could be the best game of the weekend for the neutral and I have a spooky feeling Tottenham might just keep their run going. Away Win.
