Week 29 Update - Four Rounds To Go

With just four rounds of matches left to be played the second season of the FPL is drawing to a close. We could still be in for an exciting finish although the leader doesn't seem to be making any mistakes.

It's been an excellent effort by the chasing pack including Ray Stirk, Keith Blyth and Richard & Geoffrey Haliday, but I'm not sure there is enough time left for any of them to threaten Paul Grunstein's lead. We have seen 160 bonus points in one week already this season and if anyone in the top ten could have a really big week then who knows.

The Week Ahead

It saddens me to say but I can't see Newcastle getting out of trouble. I have watched them quite a bit recently and I'm not sure I can see them winning another game. They go to Anfield at the weekend which will be very difficult and also have a trip to Villa which won't be easy despite their recent loss of form.

They are now banking on their two final home games against fellow strugglers Middlesbrough and Fulham. We were in this position last year and somehow pulled off a great escape so it can be done, but I fear for them.

It looks like a week where you could gamble on a few of the results and you might get lucky. Don't write Fulham off too soon at the Bridge. This match is sandwiched in between two midweek Champions League matches against Barcelona so I am expecting a slightly weakened home team.
